2L Charred Oak Aging Barrel for Whiskey, Rum & Wine

About this barrel

Small cask, quick results. A 2L charred oak aging barrel is popular with people trying home aging for the first time, because the color and flavor change in weeks instead of years. An independent eBay seller lists this one new at $139.95 for whiskey, rum and wine.

What does charring do inside a 2 liter oak barrel?

Burning the inside of the barrel caramelizes sugars in the wood and leaves a layer of charcoal. Together they add color, sweetness and smoothness, and they take the edge off young spirits.

• Before filling: soak it with water until it stops leaking.
• While aging: taste it often, because tiny barrels work fast.
• Char level: the title doesn't say, so ask the seller.
• Buyer protection: covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

It's a good gift for a whiskey fan who likes hands-on projects.
