Heritage Collective Mini Oak Whiskey Barrel Dispenser - 800ml/27oz

About this barrel

A used Heritage Collective mini oak whiskey barrel dispenser can be an affordable way to start aging at home. This one holds 800 ml (27 oz) and costs $18.99. A mini barrel like this fits one bottle of bourbon, rum or a batched cocktail.

Can you reuse a pre-owned mini whiskey barrel?

Often, yes. A barrel that's been used gives off less oak flavor than a fresh one, which some people prefer for a lighter finish. If it has dried out, it will need to be swelled with water again.

• Inspect: look for cracks, mold or gaps between staves in the photos.
• Ask: what it held before and how long it has sat empty.
• Re-season: rinse it, then soak it with water until it holds without dripping.
• Hardware: confirm whether the spigot and any stand are included.
