3 Liter Charred American White Oak Aging Barrel, Whiskey Bourbon Wine Cask

About this barrel

This 3 liter charred American white oak aging barrel uses the same kind of wood and char that bourbon is aged in, at a size that fits on a countertop. It's listed new at $123.94 as a whiskey, bourbon or wine cask.

Why does char matter in an American white oak barrel?

Charring caramelizes sugars in the wood and creates a layer that softens harsh notes while adding vanilla, caramel and color. The char level, which can range from light to heavy, isn't given here, so check the listing.

• Swell the barrel with water before the first fill to tighten the seams.
• A 3L barrel gives flavor faster than a full-size cask, so sample often.
• The title doesn't mention a stand, bung or spigot, so confirm what's included.
• Covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

A second batch in the same barrel usually ages more gently.
