Red Head Barrels 10L Charred Oak Aging Barrel Whiskey Rum Wine Distillery

About this barrel

A 10L charred oak aging barrel from Red Head Barrels holds a real batch of whiskey, rum or wine. It makes sense for home distillers who have outgrown the mini sizes. It's listed new.

Is a 10 liter barrel slower than a mini cask?

Yes, somewhat. Each ounce of liquid touches less wood, so aging takes longer than in a 2 or 3 liter barrel. Many people find the slower pace easier to control.

• Before filling: soak it with water until the staves swell and any leaks stop.
• Char level: the title doesn't give it, so check the item specifics.
• Hardware: check whether a stand, spigot or bung comes with it.
• Space: a full 10 liter cask is heavy, so pick a sturdy spot.
