About this barrel

If you want a 1 gallon American oak bourbon aging barrel, this 5 liter cask comes with a wood stand and a bung. The title is cut off, so there may be more parts included. An independent eBay seller lists it new at $142.86.

How long should bourbon age in a 1 gallon barrel?

There's no set time. A 5L barrel ages more slowly than a 2L or 3L, so you have more time before the oak flavor gets too strong. Start tasting after a few weeks and go by your own taste.

• Open the full listing to see what else is included.
• Fill the barrel with water before adding spirit so the wood swells.
• American oak is a good match for bourbon, rye and aged rum.
• Your purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

It's a good middle size, bigger than a gift-size mini but small enough for home batches.
