5L Oak Whiskey Barrel Dispenser Decanter for Wine Spirits Beer Liquor - Brown

About this barrel

A 5L oak whiskey barrel dispenser makes a home bar centerpiece that actually works. Fill it, let the spirit rest on the wood, then pour from the tap. This brown decanter is listed new on eBay for $86.26 and is sold for wine, spirits, beer and liquor.

Is a 5 liter barrel a good size for aging whiskey at home?

It's a popular middle size. Five liters ages more slowly than a 1L or 2L mini barrel, so you have more control over the flavor and a bigger batch to share with friends.

• Fill it with warm water for a few days first so the oak swells and stops leaking.
• The listing doesn't give a char level, so read the description or ask the seller.
• Check the photos to see if a stand, tap and bung are included.
• Keep it full between batches so the wood doesn't dry out and crack.
