20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/ Faucet&Bracket for storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

Picking a capacity is the first decision with any oak cask, and this new 20 liter oak barrel holds about 5.3 gallons. It's a vertical model with a faucet and bracket, priced at $94.54, made for whiskey, rum, brandy or wine.

Is a 20 liter oak barrel too big for home aging?

Not if you make or buy spirits in volume. It sits in the middle: much bigger than 1L to 5L mini barrels and far smaller than commercial casks.

• Speed: smaller barrels age faster. A 20L cask works more slowly, which makes the results easier to control.
• Fill level: you'll need around 20 liters on hand to keep it full.
• Footprint: standing upright saves width. Check the listing photos to judge its height.
• Reuse: each new fill pulls less flavor from the oak, so you can use the barrel for several batches.
