2L Oak Aging Barrel Mini Whiskey Barrels Age Cocktails, Bourbon, Whisky, Tequila

About this barrel

Barrel-aged Negronis and Manhattans start with a 2L oak aging barrel like this one, a new mini whiskey barrel listed at $38.99 for aging cocktails, bourbon, whisky and tequila at home. Two liters is enough for several rounds of a batched drink, and you won't need a whole case of spirits to fill it.

How long should cocktails sit in a 2L oak aging barrel?

There's no fixed timeline. A mini barrel has a lot of wood surface for each liter it holds, so it works fast. Many home bartenders start tasting within the first week or two.

• Batch stirred, spirit-forward drinks. Leave out juice, dairy and anything else that spoils.
• Soak the barrel with water before the first fill so the staves seal.
• Check the listing for the char level, the toast and any included accessories.
• Keep the barrel filled between batches so the wood stays swollen.
