1879-1888 eliel brewing co. lasall ill. Wooden Beer Keg Barrel pre Prohibition

About this barrel

This pre-Prohibition wooden beer keg is attributed to the Eliel Brewing Co. of LaSalle, Illinois, and the seller dates it to 1879-1888. Wooden kegs like this were the standard way beer left the brewery before metal kegs took over. It's used and listed at $850.00, the kind of regional piece Illinois brewery collectors look for.

How do collectors verify a pre-Prohibition beer keg?

Brewery stamps, brand marks and documented history matter most. Ask the seller to show where the Eliel name appears and what supports the 1879-1888 date range.

• Capacity and dimensions aren't listed, so ask for them.
• Check the photos for stave gaps, loose hoops or replaced heads.
• Display it indoors. It's a collectible, not a working keg.
• The eBay Money Back Guarantee covers the purchase.

A good fit for a basement bar, a beer memorabilia shelf or a local history display.
