5 Gallon Oak Barrel - Wooden Whiskey Barrel Wine Barrel (20 Liter) - for The ...

About this barrel

Shopping for a 5 gallon oak barrel that can handle a real batch? This 20 liter whiskey and wine barrel sits between tiny novelty casks and full-size barrels. It's listed new on eBay for $311.61.

Is a 5 gallon oak barrel too big for home aging?

Not for most hobbyists. Twenty liters ages more slowly than a mini cask. That gives you more control and a gentler oak flavor over longer rests, with less risk of over-oaking.

• Uses: whiskey, wine, barrel-aged beer or vinegar.
• Before the first fill: fill it with water and let the staves swell until the drips stop.
• Not in the data: the char or toast level and whether a stand or spigot is included. Read the full title and photos.
• Safety net: the purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

Plan where it will sit, since a full 20L barrel is heavy to move.
