Red Head Barrels 1L Distillery Grade Charred Oak Aging Barrel Whiskey, Rum

About this barrel

A 1 liter charred oak aging barrel is the quickest way to give a small batch of whiskey or rum real barrel character. This Red Head Barrels model is listed as new and distillery grade. The small size puts a lot of wood in contact with a little spirit, so flavor builds in weeks, not years.

How long should whiskey sit in a 1L charred oak barrel?

Mini barrels work fast. Start tasting after a week or two and bottle when the oak and char balance your spirit. Leave it too long and the wood can take over.

• Swell it first: fill it with warm water and let the staves tighten before you add spirit.
• Char level: the title says charred. Check the seller's details for the exact char grade.
• Uses: whiskey, rum or a cocktail batch you want to age at home.
• Accessories: check the photos to see if a stand, bung or spigot is included.
