About this barrel
A 1 gallon oak aging barrel with stand is a popular first step into home aging, and this new listing at $166.74 fits the bill. The title also calls it a 5 liter wooden whiskey barrel, so check the exact capacity before you plan a batch.
How should a beginner use a 1 gallon oak aging barrel with stand?
Swell it, fill it and taste it often. Small barrels work fast, so a few weeks can make a noticeable difference.
- Soak it with water until the joints stop leaking, then drain it and fill.
- Keep it somewhere stable and away from heat or direct sun.
- Check the listing for the char level and whether a bung and spigot are included.
- Top it up now and then, since some liquid evaporates through the wood.
It's offered by an independent eBay seller, and the eBay Money Back Guarantee applies.
