About this barrel

This miniature white oak whiskey barrel, 2 liter, is a dispenser that comes with a wooden stand, and it's listed as used. White oak is the American species used for most bourbon casks, and the 2L size suits small batches of wine or spirits.

What should I check on a used 2L oak barrel dispenser?

Look at the photos for the condition of the staves, how tight the hoops are, and the spigot. A barrel that has dried out may leak at first. Filling it with water and letting it swell often seals it again, but read the seller's condition notes.

• Ask what it held before, since earlier spirits or wine can flavor the next fill.
• A used barrel may give less oak flavor than a new one, which some people prefer.
• It also works as bar decor if you don't plan to fill it.
• Covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
