Mini Tabletop Oak Aging Barrel Keg Metallic Spigot Stand Whiskey Wine 7”

About this barrel

This mini oak aging barrel with a metal spigot and stand is a 7-inch tabletop piece for anyone who wants to finish whiskey or wine in small batches at home. An independent eBay seller lists it used for $28. The title doesn't give a capacity, so check the listing for volume.

Can a used mini oak aging barrel still flavor whiskey?

Often it can, though a barrel that has held spirits before usually gives up less oak than a fresh one. Small barrels work faster than large ones because more of the liquid touches wood, so taste early and often.

• Swell it first: fill it with water and let the staves tighten before you add spirits.
• Check the spigot: look closely at the photos for corrosion or wear on the metal tap.
• Ask about history: the seller may know what it held before.
• Char level: not listed, so ask if it matters to you.
