Antique Wooden Barrel w/ Spigot Primitive Keg Rustic Decor Display

About this barrel

Collectors of primitives will like an antique wooden barrel with spigot, the kind of piece that once sat behind a general store counter. This oak keg is listed for rustic decor and display, and no condition is given, so you'll have to rely on the photos and description.

How do you judge an antique keg before buying?

Look for honest wear, tight hoops and a spigot that looks original. None of the size, age or repair history is stated, so ask the seller about all three.

• Condition: not listed. Ask for extra photos of the base and bung hole.
• Display only: treat old barrels as decor unless the seller confirms they hold liquid.
• Care: dust it with a dry cloth and keep it away from direct heat to limit cracking.
• Styling: looks great on a farmhouse hutch, back bar or cabin mantel.
