Vintage 10" Oak Beverage Dispensing Barrel with Steel Bands

About this barrel

Steel bands, oak staves and a compact 10-inch size give this vintage oak beverage dispensing barrel an old-tavern look. It's listed used, so it may work as well as a decor piece as a working dispenser. Check the listing to see whether the 10 inches is the length or the height, and what it holds.

Can a vintage oak dispensing barrel still hold liquid?

Sometimes. Old barrels often dry out. A long water soak may tighten them again, but there's no guarantee it will seal.

• Look at the photos for cracks, gaps between staves and rust on the bands.
• Ask the seller about its age and what it used to hold.
• For display, keep it away from heaters and direct sun to slow drying.
• If you want to serve from it, test it with water first.
