Vintage Oak Wood ROOT BEER BARREL SODA / Antique Soda Fountain Dispener

About this barrel

Here's another take on the classic soda counter: a vintage oak root beer barrel styled as an antique soda fountain dispenser. An independent eBay seller lists it used at $499.78. It suits a retro kitchen, an ice cream parlor theme or a game room.

Antique soda fountain dispenser: display or functional?

The listing doesn't say whether it has working parts, so plan to display it unless the seller tells you more. Fittings inside old dispensers may be missing or worn.

• Ask about the spigot or tap and whether it's original.
• Ask for the height and width.
• Check the photos for crazed finish, cracks and the condition of the hoops.
• Compare it with other root beer barrels on eBay to judge the price.

Root beer barrels bring instant nostalgia to a room. This one's price is lower than some similar listings, so it's worth comparing. The purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
