Oak Barrel

About this barrel

The title of this open-box oak aging barrel is just two words, “Oak Barrel,” so read the listing closely. An independent eBay seller offers it at $29.99, and it's listed as an aging barrel.

What do I need to know before buying an open-box oak aging barrel?

Three things: how big it is, its char or toast level, and why it's open box. The title doesn't answer any of them, so check the description and photos.

• If the description doesn't give the capacity, message the seller.
• Ask if it was ever filled or only unpacked.
• Either way, plan to swell it with water before you use it.
• Choose a project that fits: spirits, wine or a slow batch of vinegar.

The eBay Money Back Guarantee covers every purchase.
