ME Modern Expressions Mini Whiskey Barrel 27 Fl Oz NIB

About this barrel

The Modern Expressions mini whiskey barrel is a 27 fl oz oak cask for aging or serving spirits, and this one sells for $19.99. The seller's title says NIB (new in box), but the condition field reads open box, so check the photos and description to see what that means here.

Is a 27 oz mini barrel worth it for home aging?

For quick experiments, yes. A small barrel puts a lot of oak in contact with a little liquid, so you'll notice changes in color and flavor sooner than you would with a big cask.

• Swell it with water first and watch for drips at the seams.
• Confirm which accessories are in the box.
• The char level isn't listed, so ask if you have a preference.
• Keep it away from direct heat while it ages.
