1 Liter Charred Oak Aging Barrel With Wood Stand, Bung & Spigot

About this barrel

A 1 liter charred oak barrel that comes with its own wood stand, bung and spigot is a ready-to-go starter kit for small-batch aging.

What does the char do in a 1 liter charred oak barrel?

Charring caramelizes the wood's surface, which gives spirits color, sweetness and smoky, vanilla-like notes. In a barrel this small, those flavors show up fast, so sample often.

• Swell it with water before use. The bung and spigot should seal once the oak tightens.
• The spigot lets you sample without pulling the bung.
• The wood stand keeps it steady on a counter or bar cart.
• The char level (light, medium or heavy) isn't specified, so check the listing.

It's a good size for a single bottle's worth of whiskey or rum, or for an aged cocktail. New, $86.57, from an independent eBay seller. The eBay Money Back Guarantee applies.
