1 Gallon Wooden Whiskey Barrel, 5 Liter Charred American White Oak Cask

About this barrel

The 5 liter charred whiskey barrel is a popular size for home hobbyists. This one is made from American white oak, the same species used for bourbon. It's listed new at $157.24 and holds about one gallon.

How many bottles fit in a 1 gallon charred oak cask?

Five liters is roughly six and a half standard 750 ml bottles. That's enough for a meaningful batch without spending a lot on spirit.

• Swell the cask with water for a day or more until any seepage stops.
• Fill it close to full, because extra air space speeds evaporation.
• Sample with a barrel thief, or with a spigot if one is included (the listing should confirm this).
• Once a batch is done, refill quickly so the wood doesn't dry out.

It's covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee when you buy through eBay.
