0.8L Mini Oak Aging Barrel with Stand - Ideal for Whiskey, Rum, Brandy, Cocktail

About this barrel

Small enough for a kitchen shelf, this 0.8L mini oak aging barrel with stand is a good first try at home barrel aging. The title says it's meant for whiskey, rum, brandy and cocktails, and it's offered new by an independent eBay seller.

Is a 0.8 liter oak barrel too small to be worth it?

Not if you're experimenting. Its small volume means a lot of wood touches a little liquid, so you can taste a difference quickly. That also makes it easy to over-oak, so sample often.

• Includes a stand: the stand is in the title. Check the photos to see its style.
• Prep: fill it with water first and wait for the wood to swell before adding spirit.
• Batch ideas: try a Manhattan, Negroni or brandy blend aged for a short time.
• Unknowns: char or toast level isn't listed, so ask the seller.
