5L/1.32Gal Aging Barrel with Stand Wood Whiskey Barrel Bourbon Wine Barrel Home

About this barrel

If you want a 5L aging barrel with stand included, this new oak barrel at $35.38 covers it. The stand keeps the 1.32-gallon barrel from rolling and lifts it off the counter, which helps on a bar cart or shelf. It's listed by an independent eBay seller.

Why buy a 5L aging barrel with stand rather than without?

A barrel lying on its side needs support, and a matching stand means you don't have to make one. It also lets air reach the underside of the wood while it ages.

• Uses: whiskey, bourbon, rum, wine or barrel-aged cocktails.
• First step: fill it with water to swell the staves before adding spirits.
• Watch the clock: a 5-liter barrel ages faster than big casks, so taste regularly.
• Check: the spigot, bung and char level aren't in the data, so look at the photos.
