Oak barrels, 1L, French oak

About this barrel

If you want to watch a spirit change in weeks instead of years, a 1L French oak barrel is the right place to start. This new mini cask holds just one liter, so it's a low-risk way to try aging whiskey, rum or batched cocktails, or even a small batch of vinegar.

Why choose a 1 liter French oak barrel?

French oak is commonly linked with a gentler, spicier wood influence. At this tiny size, every week makes a difference, so taste often.

• Prep: fill it with water and wait until any leaks stop before the first real fill.
• Timing: start tasting after several days, because small barrels work fast.
• Unknowns: the toast or char level and any included hardware aren't stated, so read the listing closely.
• Reuse: later fills age more slowly as the wood gives up its flavor.
