20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/ Faucet&Bracket for storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

Good oak barrel care keeps a 20-liter cask useful for years of batches, not just one. This new vertical oak barrel with faucet and bracket is listed at $95.50, and a few habits will help it stay tight.

How do I handle 20 liter oak barrel care between batches?

The big rule: never let the wood dry out. An empty barrel shrinks and the staves open up gaps, so you'd have to swell it again before the next fill.

• Refill it soon after emptying, ideally with your next spirit or wine.
• If it has to sit empty, store it filled with water or a barrel holding solution and change it regularly.
• Close the faucet fully and make sure the bung fits snugly.
• Later batches will pick up oak more slowly than the first one.

The title names whiskey, rum and brandy, so plan a rotation that suits your taste.
