About this barrel
Despite the vintage name, this 5L whiskey barrel is listed in new condition. The word describes the look, not the age. It holds 1.32 gallons in oak, suits wine or whiskey, and looks at home on a rustic bar. It's sized for home projects rather than commercial cellars.
Is a vintage-style 5L barrel just for decoration?
No. The seller lists it as an aging barrel, so it's meant to hold liquid. Prep it properly and it can do both jobs.
- Fill it with room-temperature water and let it sit until the staves seal.
- Expect faster flavor pickup than in large casks. Taste every few days at first.
- Check the listing photos for the spigot, stand and finish details.
- It's a thoughtful gift size for a whiskey or wine lover's den.
