About this barrel
Barrel-aged cocktails are easier than they sound. The seller says this new Hammer + Axe cocktail aging barrel is a great fit for the job. It holds 800ml (about 27 fl oz), it's made of oak and it costs $11.
How do you use the Hammer + Axe cocktail aging barrel?
Mix a batch of a spirit-heavy recipe and pour it into the barrel once it's been soaked. Taste it every few days until the oak smooths it out.
- Best recipes: Negroni, Manhattan, Boulevardier or an Old Fashioned base. Skip anything with juice or dairy.
- First step: soak the barrel with water so the staves seal.
- Later batches: each refill picks up flavor more slowly.
- Unknowns: the char level and included accessories aren't listed, so check the photos.
The purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a home mixologist.
