20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/ Faucet&Bracket for storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

Buying your first vertical wooden whiskey barrel is exciting, but new oak casks usually need curing before any spirit goes in. This 20L model with faucet and bracket is no exception. A little prep keeps your whiskey, rum or brandy inside the barrel and off the counter.

How do you cure a new 20L oak barrel?

Soaking it in water swells the wood and closes the small gaps between the staves. Here's a simple routine:

• Rinse: pour in warm water, swirl and drain to clear out wood dust.
• Swell: fill it with water and let it sit until the seeping stops, often one to several days.
• Check the tap: watch the faucet fitting for drips.
• Fill promptly: drain it and add your spirit soon so the wood stays moist.
