Wooden Oak Antique 16" Keg Barrel Cask Metal Bands

About this barrel

At 16 inches, this antique oak keg barrel cask with metal bands is big enough to stand out next to a hearth, on the floor or on a shelf. The title doesn't say whether 16 inches is the height or the width, and no condition is given, so read the description closely.

What should you look for in an antique wooden keg?

Look for solid staves, snug hoops and intact ends. Gaps and loose bands are common on old kegs. They matter more if you want it to hold liquid.

• Measurement: ask which dimension the 16 inches refers to.
• Bands: check the photos for rust or slipping hoops.
• Markings: look for stamps or bung holes that hint at how it was used.
• Use: treat it as decor unless the seller says it holds water.
