New American oak barrels

About this barrel

The title of this listing just says new American oak barrels, so read it closely before you buy. The size isn't given, and the plural could mean more than one barrel. Check the photos and description for the capacity, the quantity and what comes with it.

What should I confirm on an American oak barrel listing like this?

Start with capacity, because it sets how fast your spirit ages: small barrels take weeks, larger ones take months. Then look for the char or toast level and whether a spigot, bung and stand are included.

• American oak tends to give bold vanilla, caramel and coconut notes, a classic match for bourbon.
• Ask the seller whether the barrel is charred, toasted or untreated.
• Any new barrel should be swelled with water before you fill it.
• Covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
