20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/ Faucet&Bracket for storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

Before a new 20L oak aging barrel holds a drop of whiskey, it needs some prep. This vertical model with faucet and bracket is no exception.

How do I prepare a new 20L oak aging barrel?

Fill it with clean water and let it sit so the dry staves swell and close any gaps. Small leaks at first are common and usually slow down as the wood soaks up water. Once it holds, drain it and fill it with spirit.

• Do the water test somewhere a drip won't matter.
• While it's full of water, make sure the faucet is seated snugly.
• Our data doesn't include the char or toast level. The seller's description should say.
• Bigger barrels like this one age more slowly than minis, so plan for a longer timeline.
