Antique Vintage Small Wooden Keg Whiskey Barrel with Bung Hole Red Metal Hoops

About this barrel

Red metal hoops make this antique small wooden whiskey keg stand out from the usual barrels with black bands. It's listed used at $99.99 and has a bung hole. The seller calls it antique and vintage but doesn't give its age or capacity, so look for those in the listing.

Is an antique whiskey keg better for display or use?

Most buyers use pieces like this for display. Old wood may be dried out, stained or sealed with something, so treat any aging plans as an experiment. Soak it well and check for leaks first.

• Ask whether the bung or stopper is included.
• Check the red paint on the hoops for chips or rust.
• Look for maker stamps that hint at its age or origin.
• It fits farmhouse, cabin and saloon-style decor.
